Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002:
The Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 requires that all Scottish Public Authorities must maintain a ‘Publication Scheme’ which sets out what types of information might be of interest to the public. Tarbert Medical Practice publication scheme is a complete guide to the information routinely made available. It is a description of the information about our General Practitioners and the Practice. It will be reviewed at regular intervals and we will monitor its effectiveness. We are required to have regard to the public interest in allowing public access to information we hold and the publication of reasons for the decisions we make.
Patients Rights and Responsibilities
All patients are entitled to a health check every 3 years. Those aged over 75 are entitled to an annual health check, which may be carried out at home if they are unable to visit the Health Centre. Please ask at reception if you would like a health check.
Courtesy and Respect:
You should always be treated courteously in your contacts with the Practice. We ask in return for you to treat us with the same courtesy and respect. Any person who is physically violent to any member of the Practice Team or other persons will be removed immediately from the Practice List. Any person who is verbally abusive to a member of the Practice Team or other persons on the Practice premises, or in a place where treatment is being provided, will be warned and a repeat of such behaviour will result in removal from the List.
Right of access to your healthcare records:
A leaflet is available from reception detailing the procedure to follow to allow you to view the records held by the practice pertaining to yourself.
Confidentiality:
All members of the Practice Team treat the confidentiality of patient information with the utmost importance and are bound by a strict code of confidentiality. The practice is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and General Data Protection Regulation 25th May 2018.
Information will be shared with other Health Care professionals where appropriate for an individual’s care. Information may also occasionally be shared with other professionals in accordance with nationally recognised procedures and Highland Interagency Guidelines (August 2007).
This practice is currently involved in research studies for which we contribute anonymised information from patients' notes to The Health Improvement Network (THIN). More detailed information about THIN can be found under 'Further Information' in the right hand column on this sight.
